1. TURN OFF THE TV
If you’re watching TV, please do yourself a favor and turn it off NOW. Our time on Earth is limited and we cannot afford to lose it doing trivial things that don´t add meaning to our lives. Well, TV may be necessary to relax our minds from time to time, or to learn something useful watching a documentary or a film that can inspire us. But basically, 95% of the things casted on TV are bullshit. Yes, all those gossip programs, reality shows, news that shows only the negative part of the world, crappy TV series, ads, etc.. Send it all to hell. Learn to think for yourself. As Tyler Durden would say: “If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don’t you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can’t think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all that claim it? Do you read everything you’re supposed to read? Do you think every thing you’re supposed to think? Buy what you’re told to want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you’re alive. If you don’t claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned…”.
2. GET OUT THERE AND MOVE
No, I won´t be cynical or complacent with anyone: the physical appearance matters (too much) and health is probably the most important thing we have. So take care of yourself. Start by getting out of the house and just run! It seems simple, but often isn´t. No matter if it´s raining, snowing or whatever, just do it! I assure you that at first it will be hard, difficult, but with the passage of time, it gets really addictive.
If you make a habit of it, it will cost you to stop. Every day you get up and look in the mirror you’ll look better, you will love yourself so more, have more selfconfidence and things will go better – just like that! Never stop trying new things, get up and try out for a new sport, new challenges. It doesn’t matter who your doing it with, whether its with your parents, partner, best friend, just do it! You wont regret it. I promise.
A good alternative to spend idle time in which we don´t know what to do; is reading. Its as simple as picking up a book and opening it to the first page. The benefits are crazy: you increase your vocabulary, you´ll get a little e more educated, have a few more things to talk about with your friends, you´ll sound a little smarter. And as surprising as it may sounds, it will also expand your view on things and make better decisions in all areas of your life. Choose a topic that interests you and start reading about it. If you don´t know where to start, ask people what books they would recommend you, no matter if they are novels, science fiction, fashion magazines, essays of 17th-century French authors, etc… There are already too many ignorant people out there, so please, read!
4. LISTEN TO MOTIVATING MUSIC
It is scientifically proven that music can make us do things, we never thought was possible. Ever wonder why you all of a sudden felt sad about your girlfriend leaving you? You see its the power of music that sinks our minds to places and emotions beyond imagination. So next time your about to go for a run, enter the ring or simply just want to feel good, put on some good music that really pumps you up, Avicii, Calvin Harris or whomever it is, and youll see that your chances of doingsomething great that day increase exponentially. There are thousands of examples of how music affects our mood and helps us to achieve the unachievable. So choose your music carefully because it can be the difference between success and failure.
5. FIND WHAT/WHO YOU REALLY LOVE
What sense does going through life doing things we don´t like , with people who don´t add anything to our lives? Life is short, so take time to figure out what you want to do and with who you want to do it with. It seems simple, right? Well, for most people it´s not. Remember when you were a little kid spending hours and hours studying things we don´t like just to please our parents, or God, or Karma, or whoever. Oh and it get better, because then we spend a hole lifetime working jobs we don´t like, that don’t make us feel that fulfillment, it simply just pays the bills. Sometimes we find ourselves in toxic relationships that do not provide anything, with people we actually hate. But what if one day you discover you could put a spin to that? What if you found that you can do what you really love and and make money with it at the same time? Many people don´t think about this, but we, as a generation, have to do it, because happiness is a value that we´re starting to give up over a paycheck.
6. CREATE SOMETHING
Create. Do not expect to have a lucky strike that may never come, the world needs more creators. Enough of stealing or copying good ideas and successful models. Stop working for a stuck up boss that just keeps on giving you crap, be the boss! Be the architect of your life. Start your own project. You´ll probably fail the first and the second time you try it, but you will succeed in the sixth or seventh. No matter what you create, but create something, something thats your own. Create a book, a theory, a business, a kart for your nephew, a better relationship with your women. Brainstorm the next revolutionary idea. As I said, it may not make you rich, but maybe it will, and you won´t know unless you try it out! What is certain is that if you stay on the couch lying and doing nothing, you will never get to contribute anything of value to yourself. Create your own legacy, which will be remembered when you are no longer on this planet. We are blessed with the same gift that is attributed to God: the gift of Creation. Take advantage of it and make a difference.
Don´t take life so seriously. Learn to relativize everything. Has your girlfriend left you? Have you failed an exam or two? Are pissed of at friend? Quiet, I´m sure that the people in a refugee camp in Somalia don´t have such “serious” problems as your having. Let things flow freely, being confident that all will end well and, believe me, it will as long as you keep on pushing. And stop complaining about everything, stop stressing and just live life, it´ll all work out, as long as you lead the way. Take adversity with a smile, don´t let it affect you. We live in a world that is constantly stressed. Rush, traffic jams, requirements, etc… Just relax, overcome all that and live life so much better.
8. THINK POSITIVELY
Ever wondered why some people always find a place to park the car, while there are other people who never find a place? The answer lies on thinking positively. It´s so simple… just think that “everything is gonna be alright”. It´s really something magical, that positive attitude towards life will allow us to live happier and carefree through the confidente that everything will be fine.
9. DEFINE WHAT YOU WANT AND GO FOR IT
What do you want in life? Where do you want to be in the next 3, 5, 10 years? What kind of individual do you want to be? What do you expect from life? If you haven´t ever asked yourself these questions, you really should – everyone should! It’s as simple as writing it down on piece paper; our objectives in the short, medium and long term. Knowing what we want and how we can get there and then… simply do it! It doesn´t sound that difficult does it? So, what are you waiting for?
10. INCREASE YOUR NETWORK
We all know that success in life depends largely on who you are linked to. Connections are important, and so are friends. Establish close links with the people around you, don’t isolate yourself. Meet new people, people who can make things better for you, people who can teach you valuable lessons, because You never know who can help you on your way to personal or professional success. Simply create an extensive network of connections and make deep and trusted relationships. Friends are a very important part of our life, don´t forget that.
BONUS: KEEP MOVING
Movement is life. It is a basic principle of military strategy. If you move, you stay alive, if you don´t , well then your pretty much dead. The time you spend sleeping, being lazy, watching tv, watching the birds fly through the sky, is killing valuable time. You do nothing. You produce nothing. You’re just there, taking up some space. A good tip is that you have to keep moving. Get out of the house, exercise, dance, laugh, meet with friends, go to party, have ideas, stimulate your brain… Do whatever you have to do, but just… KEEP ON MOVING!
