No matter where you are on your entrepreneurial journey; you will always find obstacles that you need to overcome. Most of the obstacles are self-imposed limitations that you place on yourself. I’ve seen numerous businesses fail because the leader didn’t believe his team could accomplish what they set out to accomplish. I’ve seen 6-figure entrepreneurs stay at 6-figures or even lose money due to the fact they didn’t believe they could make it to 7-figures.
There are tons of techniques to get rid of that obnoxious chatter in your head that becomes unbearable at time, but it never seems to stick. There is only one surefire way to make sure that no matter when you start hearing your limiting beliefs, you instantly shut them up. Here are my 4 effective ways to eliminate limiting beliefs from taking over your mind.
1. Know Your Final Outcome
My favorite story is about Muhammad Ali when it comes to limiting beliefs. Muhammad lived, breathed, and believed that he was the greatest boxer in the history of boxing. During his first match, even though he was mutilated, he still believed he was the greatest boxer ever. He trained for months & years until one day, he was finally crowned the world’s greatest boxer.
He had a clear definition of what he wanted & where he was going. What he didn’t know was how much work he was going to have to put in or how to even accomplish such a milestone. How many times do you think he got knocked out and thought; “maybe I’m only kidding myself”? Of course he did; he’s only human. The difference between him and the other boxers who didn’t win was that he didn’t let those beliefs take over his mind.
Being a true champion means you are simply a true champion. You don’t quiver at the first sign of failure, you know how to disable limiting beliefs, and you look fear straight in the eyes and push forward. That’s when true champions are born.
2. Have a Support System in Place
The world’s most successful people always have a unique support system in place. Whether that’s a coach, a mastermind group, or even just your board of advisers; no one can build a business solely by themselves. Did you realize that a lot of phrases that come out of your mouth on a daily basis could be considered a limiting belief that your subconscious mind is placing to stop you from achieving all that you truly desire?
By having a strong support system in place, you’ll be able to be held accountable for certain situations where you seem “stuck”. You are truly never stuck, you just can’t see past your own limiting beliefs in yourself or your business.
3. Start Thinking Differently
My favorite quote is from Napoleon Hill:
“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe it will achieve.”
The reason why people have limiting beliefs in the first place is because while they were growing up, they had a parent or an adult figure tell them that something that their subconscious mind threw into their core value system. Some people don’t consider a 6-figure business to be a success but in their childhood, they heard someone say that success only brings heartbreak so they never achieve more than the 6-figure mark. I’ve personally seen it happen.
If you want to eliminate your limiting beliefs, you have to start thinking like a champion. You have to believe that you deserve all that you truly desire. Thinking differently takes work but as long as you put in the work, you’ll start to see the shift.
How can you start thinking differently?
Start reading interviews from people you admire, read biographies from top leaders, and read books that inspire you to take action (recommendations – Be Bally: How to Not Suck at Love, Success, Happiness or Think & Grow Rich, etc.)
4. Take Different Actions
Not all action is the right action. Sometimes the wrong action is dressed up like the right action but then a few weeks down the road; you find yourself stuck in a ditch in the middle of a ghost town. How can you be sure that you are taking the right action?
Here are a few questions for you.
- Are you writing down your goals on a daily basis?
- Do you take the time to express gratitude in all of your endeavors and situations?
- Are you thinking realistically? If yes, why are you limiting yourself?
- Why do you believe that you aren’t worth more?
No matter what happens in your life, there are going to be situations that arise that will make you question whether you are truly on the right path. It isn’t because the world is against you; it’s simply a test to see how bad you truly want success, love, and happiness.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result. You aren’t going to achieve the results you desire by doing the same action you have currently been taking.
Do yourself a favor and start believing in yourself 1000%. You truly do deserve to be wildly successful & wealthy. You do deserve to have a successful business to spend more time with your friends/family. You do deserve to travel the world and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
The only question I have left for you is… what are you going to do differently today, that will bring your business to the next level & is that going to be good enough? If your answer to the second part of the question is no, then why aren’t you doing more?
