There is only one week left for the Second Annual TechFest 2016 at NYUAD Saadiyat Campus, and the excitement is growing very fast. After months of planning, we are finally seeing how this event takes shape, and how the university is preparing for one of the most exciting series of talks and workshops related to technology in the region.
But what is TechFest? Organized by the NYUAD Google Student Club, TechFest is a conference in which professionals across the UAE will talk about how the latest advancements in technology are revolutionizing different industries. For this year’s event, we have very high-profile speakers such as Dr Manish, Chief Technology Officer at Cleveland Clinic; Pablo Brizzio, Senior Innovation Manager at Etihad Cargo; Liam Weeks, Head of Performance Analysis at Al Jazira Sports Club; Farid Gharazeddine, Analytical Lead Retail at Google; PhD Carlos Guedes, Head of the Music Department at NYU Abu Dhabi; and Gaurav Jain, Consultant and Monitor Deloitte.
With thrilling talks such as “The Life of an Ad” by Farid Gharazeddine, “Music. Technology. Two sides of the same coin” by Professor Guedes, “It’s only a game – An insight into the use of technology in professional football” by Liam Weeks, “Eruption before Disruption”, by Gaurav Jain, to name a few, the day will be packed with knowledge, amazement, first-hand experience from the best people in their respective fields, and most important of all, with opportunities for students all over the UAE to network and benefit from an inspiring insight into industry that will shape their future.
And the event only gets better and better. We are pleased to have Professor Craig Protzel and Professor Theodore Lee from the Department of Interactive Media at NYUAD to give an overview of what Virtual Reality is and its future applications to industry, as well as showcasing a number of Virtual Reality machines and devices to the attendees. Finally, to end the day at the pinnacle, we will be serving delicious Lebanese food for dinner at NYUAD’s Central Plaza, right next to the palm trees and under the cool breeze of Saadiyat Island.
