Arabian Business StartUp Awards 2015: Meet the UAE’s Finest Entrepreneurs

As the importance of entrepreneurship continues to grow across the region, Arabian Business StartUp once again celebrates the success of those who have stood out from the crowd.

The 2015 edition of the awards will recognise the people, businesses and organizations that have helped make the region’s business landscape what it is – a hotbed of innovation, growth and productivity. – Arabian Business

The event gathers all important stakeholders of the region’s Start Up ecosystem – from entrepreneurs, SME leaders, mentors and investors to government representatives.  Around 400 people will attend this high profile event, and this year’s keynote speaker is no other than Ashish Thakkar.  Often referred to as ‘Africa’s youngest billionaire’, Thakkar left school at the age of 15 to set up a small computer shop in Uganda.  Less than two decades later, he is now at the helm of a vast business empire – Mara Group – which operates in 22 African countries.  To support emerging entrepreneurs through mentorship and venture philanthropy, he set up Mara Foundation in 2009. Thakkar was also recently appointed as the Chair of the UN Foundation’s Global Entrepreneurs Council (GEC).
