Burger King Twitter Account Hijacked: What We Can Learn From This Social Media Crisis

Remember when Burger King’s Twitter account was hijacked – announcing that it had been bought by McDonalds? The company’s avatar and name was changed to “McDonalds” and tweeted several offensive and inappropriate tweets to their followers. Hilarious and a perfect example of how a social media crisis can lead to devastating results – well kind of.

But to be fair, the Twitter incident wasn’t all that bad. In fact, Burger King got 5,000 new followers in the first 30 minutes of the hijack – pretty good if you ask me!
