If you’re aiming to make it to the top, if you’re going to be successful within your preferred field of expertise, then by all means – prepare yourself for waves of hatred. Because let’s face it, when it gets to a point where all you’re getting is attention, attracting hundreds, thousands, if not millions of people, you’re bound to get plenty of haters hiding amongst the crowd. And with the overload of social-media, having the whole world accessing and seeing what you’re doing, there won’t be any shortage of “anonymous” people throwing their crap, left and right, trying to direct their ” constructive criticism” directly towards you. In the heat of the moment just remember that: “Haters will only broadcast your failures, but whisper your success.”
Embrace the hatred and love your haters, because without that support, without them, you won’t make it. They´re your daily dose of motivation, they´re your alarm-clock that inspires you to push yourself just that much more . Here, keep these five things in mind when you’re fighting the critics and haters:
1. Quitters are those who say “No”
Listen, the only people who tell you, you can’t do something, are afraid that you’re actually going to do it. The individuals who tell you “it’s impossible” are only admitting they can’t do it themselves – because they´re quitters. You see, unconsciously they are just telling you that “Yep, I’m a quitter and quite frankly, I hope you quit too, because if you do, i’ll have someone to share my defeat with.”
2. Haters and critics are only bystanders
It’s pretty simple; Bystanders usually don’t obtain that ultimate level of success in their own little lives because they waste their time watching the lives of the successful. And just like any of your favorite series or sports leagues, as a spectator, you always manage to specifically pick out the flaws and negativities of the characters or players. But the truth is, these average bystanders only pick and choose these few flaws only to overshadow the other unique and prosperous traits of the successful.
3. Don’t let the haters get to you
Whatever happens, whatever they say or do – stay rational. Because at the end of the day, they wouldn’t be talking about you if it weren’t for your success. So instead of getting all emotional, getting out the big guns to prove a point, kill them with a smile and bury them with success.
4. Forget about the hater, worry about the listener
What’s the worst possible thing haters can do to you – piss you off? Forget about them, they’re a waste of precious time and energy. On another note, fear those who listen and absorb the BS. The people around you and on your team – friends, family, co-workers, people with a weak character and a sense of vulnerability are the ones you should be afraid of as they buy into anything, spreading the soon-to-be damaging reputation. So piece of advice: cut out the people who pass on the message.
5. Don’t waste your haters
I know, they absolutely suck – which is great! Don’t throw away that and try to avoid the pessimistic assholes, use them to your advantage, fueling yourself to the next level! Allow them to inspire you and push you to the top, rather than bring you down. With that being said, I’ll leave you with this:
“One week they like me, the next week they hate me, both weeks I get paid.”
