Lewis Hamilton, the three-time Formula One world champion, has built up a large fortune in a short time, and lives a supremely luxury lifestyle for a 31-year-old. From multitudes of vintage cars and an on-off relationship with former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger among other seriously beautiful women, to owning property in the lavish tax haven of Monaco, Hamilton is living the dream.
Hamilton is one of the top Formula One drivers in the world right now, and with odds of 11/8 to win the 2016 Drivers’ Championship at the time of writing, he has the chance to cement himself at the top in the world rankings. His success in the sport has enabled him to make a multi-million-pound fortune, and create the kind of existence that makes him the envy of nearly every man of his age.
Hamilton’s estimated worth is around £182million. He has accumulated this wealth by being the youngest Formula One champion in history and signing a lucrative deal with McLaren in 2007 that was worth £75millio for five years. By gaining such international stardom from an early age, he made himself a target for advertising companies. His sponsorship deal with Reebok is worth £10million and he has earned nearly £2million from endorsements of companies including Santander, Bombardier, and Tag Heuer watches. By amassing so much wealth at such a young age, it gave him the freedom to decline another huge contract offer from McLaren in 2012, when he decided to join rivals Mercedes instead. He now earns £1.5million per race, making him the highest paid sportsman in England. So how does he spend all this wealth?
Hamilton’s car collection would bring tears of joy to the eyes of car enthusiasts, as he has some serious collectors’ items in his possession. His garage includes a special edition LaFerrari, a Mercedes Benz SLS Black Series, a Pagani Zonda 760 RS, and a Shelby GT500. He is also the king of the sea and sky, with his own private jet, a Bombardier Challenger 605, and luxury yacht that cost him £5million.
To show off your massive amounts of wealth you have to look the part, and Hamilton does, with diamond jewellery and designer clothes. He wears diamond studs thought to be worth around £32,000, and his clothing is custom made by designers like Balmain.
He has recently purchased an apartment in Monaco, which seemed rather appropriate given that Monaco is one of the richest places in the world. But that isn’t his only property. He also owns a ranch in Colorado, and this is the place that he refers to as home. This ranch is set in an idyllic location in the mountains and has what Hamilton refers to as the “Megazone”. In the Megazone, he goes skiing, dirt bike riding, shooting, and horse riding. This is the place where he plans to settle down and raise a family one day.
But, at the moment, he is enjoying all the perks of being young, talented, and exceedingly rich.
