Let’s not kid ourselves, we spend the majority of our time sitting down, wether when it’s getting shit done or simply procrastinating, we all tend to be sitting on our asses, and in today’s modern age with everything being done on either a laptop or an iPhone, we can’t help ourselves but to sit down. But here is the thing; sitting too much might just shorten your life (sounds so dramatic when you phrase it like that, but it’s true though). Especially entrepreneurs’ life, hell, they probably sit down more than anyone else. In fact, we as a generation have been sitting down so much that this new smart cushion Darma rocketed on Kickstarter.
Now I came up with a “genius” way to prevent this “life threatening” situation – standing up. Yup, I bought myself this “stand-up desk” which basically forced me to stand up while I was working or doing something productive – smart right? No. Probably the dumbest shit I’ve done. I mean sure, it was healthy, improved my posture and increased my life-expectency by a couple of months, but after a while, after a while I said “screw it”, my chair was viciously calling my name which I obviously couldn’t resist.
Turns out the key to reversing the effects of sitting is not standing – it’s standing up regularly. According to the Cornell University ergonomics team, by switching up your sitting and standing every 30 minutes, you’ll live a healthy life! Sounds crazy? Check this out:
