Almost six months ago, on January 24th, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs stated that “The Ministry announces that President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan suffered a stroke on Friday morning.” HRH Sheik Khalifa “immediately underwent a surgical operation” following the health complication and was later on reported to be recovering.
Ever since that incident, people haven’t really heard much regarding the presidents’ current medical condition which, of course, triggered a social media blast about a rumored death. Thankfully, recently the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, announced that The President was in “stable and reassuring” condition after he passed through a difficult crisis. The Crown Prince also took the time to urge people to tone down the gossip regarding Sheik Kahlifas’ critical health issue. According to Wam, the state news agency, the Crown Price also reminded the people “to use modern technology and social networking sites for the benefit of our society and country.”
This message was very much needed as a recent stream of thousands of posts on Twitter and Instagram praying for Sheikh Khalifa and his recovery fueled the gossip and led to much nonsense being thrown around about Sheikh Khalifa’s health.
My god grant the president of the UAE a quick and full recovery.
