Time For An Upgrade: 5 Top Smartphones You Should Expect in 2016

New and more high-tech smartphones are set to take the industry by storm this year. According to eMarketer, nearly 2 billion people worldwide will get a new smartphone in 2016, especially with the new innovative features that are expected to arrive soon, such as the revolutionary iris scanning technology.

If you are planning to upgrade your smartphone, then you are in the right place. In this featured post, we will highlight 5 of the best smartphones to grace the market in 2016.

Apple iPhone 7
Although Apple’s iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are only new in some markets, rumors about its successor are already creating a buzz online. The current iPhones sold an impressive 13 million units in only three days on the market. How well can their next handset perform? The iPhone 7, dubbed the “thinnest iPhone yet,” is said to come with a new design and upgraded features that the company missed out on their current flagships. The next Apple flagship/s will come with wireless charging, edge-to-edge screen, a humanized Siri, support for augmented reality, waterproof capability and more.

HTC M10
The HTC M9 wasn’t competitive against the leading handsets last year, including the Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6s. But, it’s determined to make a mark on the mobile arena again with the arrival of their HTC M10. It is said to come with QuickCharge, 20MP camera, a wider edge-to-edge design, and a 1080p 5-inch screen. The M10 will also come with an upgraded BoomSound as well as waterproof capabilities. HTC will offer more storage as well, with options for 16 GB and 64 GB.

Samsung Galaxy S7
Given the revolutionary design of the current handset (Galaxy S6 Edge), it makes us wonder about the possible new design of the next Galaxy smartphones. Today, Samsung’s current handsets are now made more affordable because of the many January Sales currently doing the rounds online. The next Samsung handset, which is set to be called the ‘Galaxy S7,’ is expected to arrive sometime in March 2016, which sports a 4K display, 20MP front and 5MP back cameras, running the Android 6.0, and powered by the Snapdragon 820 with support to 4GB RAM. It will be announced along with the Samsung Gear VR headset.

LG G5
One of the long-awaited features of the LG G5 is the iris scanning technology, according to IB Times, which is the most advanced biometric sensor known today. It is expected to come with a myriad of upgrades from its predecessor, such as a 5.5-inch 4K screen, a Snapdragon 820 processor, and a better and more powerful 3,000 mAh. LG will be working with Sony to upgrade its camera to 20MP with a ½-inch aperture. The LG G5 will be released in March or April along with the G Flex 3.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium
Among the first to probably hit the market is Sony’s upcoming Xperia Z5 Premium, which made a public appearance at the IFA 2015 in Berlin. The handset will sport a 6.44-inch screen with 4K technologies, 23MP, bigger 4000mAh, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, and high-end mobile SoC. It will most likely be released in March, after the planned launch at the Mobile World Congress this February in Barcelona.

If you have already selected the next smartphone you want to get this year, then we suggest that you save up as early as now. Given the upgraded features, these handsets will certainly come at a hefty price. Did we miss a particular handset in this list? Share your added ideas in the comment section below.
